Tata Motors has revealed the 2023 Nexon facelift, which many people were looking forward to. It starts at a price of Rs 8.10 lakh (excluding showroom costs). The new Nexon comes with different variant names, a changed look, a new gearbox option, more features, and other improvements. You can learn more about the newly launched Nexon facelift below.

On September 1, 2023, Tata Motors India made a significant announcement that garnered widespread attention and excitement. They unveiled the highly anticipated Tata Nexon facelift in the country, a move that created a substantial buzz within the automotive enthusiast community and among consumers. This unveiling is a testament to Tata’s dedication to staying at the forefront of innovation and design in the fiercely competitive Indian SUV market.

This marks the beginning of the pre-launch phase, allowing enthusiastic customers to secure their orders and express their keen interest in the overhauled SUV well in advance of its scheduled official launch date on September 14, 2023.

By initiating bookings early, Tata Motors aims to cater to the high demand anticipated for the Tata Nexon facelift, ensuring that devoted enthusiasts have the opportunity to be among the first to experience the updated and enhanced version of this cherished Indian SUV, so let’s get started with its features, designs, and everything.

    Tata Nexon facelift exterior design

The front design of the iconic car Nexon facelift exhibits a unique split-headlamp arrangement, characterised by sequential LED daytime running lights (DRLs) positioned at the upper section and headlights situated just below them. The Tata logo proudly adorns an elegant upper grille, seamlessly connecting these DRLs, while the headlights sit within a trapezoidal housing.

The restyled lower bumper area in the Nexon facelift serves as a key element in elevating its visual appeal. It introduces a more expansive grille that prominently features a distinct horizontal plastic bar running centrally. The visual impact of this grille is further heightened by the inclusion of a faux skid plate, which imparts the impression of a rugged underbody protector often associated with off-road vehicles.

These design components seamlessly integrate to create a front fascia that successfully amalgamates a robust and solid appearance with a contemporary and current style. The end result is a visually captivating and in-trend aesthetic that aligns seamlessly with the modern design language commonly seen in today’s SUVs.

Tata Nexon facelift interior and features

The interior of the Nexon facelift draws inspiration from the Curvv concept, featuring a redesigned touchscreen system and a distinctive two-spoke steering wheel. Notable changes include slimmer and more angular AC vents, a reduction in physical buttons on the dashboard, and the introduction of two toggles on the centre console for HVAC controls, surrounded by a touch-based panel.

To enhance the interior’s premium feel, the dashboard incorporates leather inserts and a carbon fibre-like finish, creating a modern and sophisticated cabin design. At the forefront of the Nexon facelift’s interior is a prominent 10.25-inch touchscreen, originally introduced in the Nexon EV Max Dark edition earlier in the year. Moreover, the Nexon facelift features a 10.25-inch full-digital instrument cluster that provides customization options, including the ability to display navigation information.

In its top-spec configuration, the Nexon facelift boasts a comprehensive feature set, encompassing a 360-degree camera, advanced connected car technology, wireless charging capability, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, and more. Safety is a priority, with standard features such as six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX child seat anchors, as well as emergency and breakdown call assistance, ensuring a well-rounded and secure driving experience.

Tata Nexon Facelift Powertrain and Variants

The Tata Nexon Facelift will continue to have powertrain options that feature the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 120hp and 170Nm of torque. This engine offers versatility with a selection of four gearbox choices, including a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT), and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters, depending on the specific variant.

On the other hand, the 1.5-liter diesel engine, which produces 115hp and 260Nm of torque, is still an option. You can pair it with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed AMT, catering to a range of driving preferences and requirements.

Tata Motors has made a significant shift in its nomenclature strategy, moving away from the previous ‘X’ series, including XE, XM, XM+, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux, and adopting a naming convention inspired by the Punch model.

In the Nexon facelift, the new trim names are as follows: Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure, Pure (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S), and Fearless+ (S). The addition of a ‘+’ indicates optional packages that bundle several additional features, while ‘(S)’ designates trims that come equipped with a sunroof, offering customers a range of customization and feature options.

Tata Nexon facelift expected price and rivals

The pricing information for the Tata Nexon facelift is scheduled to be disclosed on September 14th, with expectations that it will be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh for the top version, all prices are ex-showroom price.

This Tata car is in direct competition with a range of prominent competitors in the market, including the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite, providing consumers with a wide variety of options within the subcompact SUV segment.

Tata Nexon Engine and Transmission Options

The new Nexon facelift offers two engine choices. One is a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine that can produce 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The other choice is a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 113 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Both engines come with manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT). Additionally, the turbo-petrol version offers a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as an option, which also has paddle shifters.

2023 Tata Nexon Facelift Design & Styling

In the new pictures, the SUV is heavily covered with camouflage. But even with that, we can still see the familiar shape we’ve known for a while. The side view and window frames remind us of the Nexon. There are reports online that say the new Nexon will take some design ideas from the CURVV electric SUV concept Tata Motors showed last year. So, we might see a split-LED headlamp setup with LED daytime running lights on the hood and the main headlamp cluster on the bumper, which is different from the current model. Also, we can expect changes to the front and rear bumpers, an LED light bar at the back, and a more muscular look.

    Conclusion

The Tata Nexon facelift represents a welcome refresh to an already popular subcompact SUV. With its distinctive split-headlamp design, a contemporary interior featuring advanced technology, and a range of powertrain options encompassing both petrol and diesel engines with multiple transmission choices, the Nexon maintains its strong position within its segment.

Tata’s decision to adopt new trim names and introduce optional packages enhances the vehicle’s customization options for prospective buyers. Moreover, unveiling the competitive pricing on September 14th positions the Nexon facelift as a robust rival among similar models, rendering it an appealing choice for individuals in search of a versatile and well-equipped subcompact SUV in the Indian automotive market.
